Happy Monday

What a great weekend, shame it had to finish so soon.

My weekend was spent packing our new wardrobe - man I have a lot of clothes
Sewing curtains and making our little house normal...

Here is my version of normal

Picked from my very own garden :)

Hopefully some before and after shots to come later in the week

Crafting Mo-jo

Now we are in the house I can finally unpack all my craft things.... I have found lots of UFP's.. oh dear.
I will TRY not to start another project until I finish a few of these unfinished ones.
But first on the agenda is curtains for the house... for some privacy and to keep the house a bit warmer on these cold autum nights.
My new machine is getting a work out!!

Moved in

We have finally moved in to our HOUSE!! we are so exhausted, every weekend every night doing something on the house to get it to a liveable state. These are some very bad photos but they give you the general idea

PAINTING

Work is coming along in our house. New Ceilings have been put up and now we are painting.
We currently have no lights so painting in the dark is not very fun. Colours have been decided, Ceiling White for the Ceiling and bathroom and Antique White USA for the walls in the rest of the house. A gloss white for all the windows and doors.
Should look very nice against our polished floorboards.

The Before Photos

Have been very busy working on the house -  here are some before shots

and some work in progess photos

As you can see all the flooring is gone.. and to our surprise we found floorboards under all the floors which is great. Majority of the wall paper is gone too.

Tonights job is finish taking off the remainder of the wall paper and start sanding the doors and window trims.

Bunnings trip last night to get some samples of white paint - who could have thought there were so many whites!!!

Back to the renos

Sewing Machine Orientation

For Christmas my wonderful Husband bought me a sewing machine.

Husqvarna Emerald 203
All my sewing prior to this has been done on my mum's phaff. Great machine but the problem was actually getting it. Having to pack it up from her house and bring it over.
He told me now I don't have any excuses not to do his mending.

So tonight is my offical Sewing Machine Orientation lesson at the Chatswood Sewing Centre

Hope that I learn a few more tricks on my machine

Teaching yourself Quilting

Inspired from Stitches & Craft Show 2009 where I bought a kit from the lovely ladies at Prints Charming I decided to make my own quilt - no pattern. How hard could it be??

So after my purchase of fabric from Kelani Fabrics... love love love this store

Darla Ditzy; Doozie Blue; Jap Flowers; Dooxie White

I cut out my squares... actually not completely square more rectangle, then laid them all out and decided on my pattern. I tried to work out how much fabric I would need
But I miss calculated
Here is my quilt as it is now

Any ideas of how I could make it bigger without taking away from my original pattern?
I was thinking of adding a white boarder then maybe another row of the same squares maybe in a different colour but similar design. Green?

Comments welcome. Would love to have this ready to put into our new house once all our decorating is complete.

New Pattern & New Fabric

Spending spree today.

My pattern arrived today and tessuti's just happened to be having a sale

Flower Stencil fabric for Dress A with no frills

Peach Cluster fabric for Dress A with frills

Now all I have to do is sew up a muslin to make sure it fits correctly.

Lots of sewing plans now I just need to find the time to fit it all in.

Avocados... mmmmm

Avocados in abundance..... after a trip to Flemington Markets last saturday morning at the crack of dawn I have a whole tray of avocados.

So last night's dinner of steak and salad we also had Avocado & Corn Salsa receipe from here

Enjoy

Sewing Rooms Ideas

Today my thoughts are on what to do with my spare room. We have 3 bedrooms in our new/old house. The main bedroom will obviously be mine and DH's bedroom and then the next size down room will be a guest bedroom.
The smaller of the three bedrooms is going to be a combined study/sewing room.

I really like this custom made table found here below

or this storage solution found here

New Pattern

Got some inspiration from little betty yesterday so much so that I went to Tessuti's and order in this dress pattern.
Arrives in 2 weeks. Going to go through the stash and see if I have some fabric to use up.

On another note we get the keys to our in less than 5 weeks
So far we have someone donating to us their tasmanian oak bathroom vanity & mirror. shower screens, cedar blinds & a kitchen
Now we just have to work out how it is all going to it in.
I will have the mammoth task of removing wallpaper from every room. I am trying to think colours.

A little about me...

I love sewing, kniting and anything crafty - although not very good at all these things but I am learning.

I have been reading lots of other people's blogs for the past year or so and thought it time I join in.

Hope you enjoy and would love to hear your comments
